The prisoner Nasser Abu Hamid (49 years), from Al-Amari camp in Al-Bireh, has been in a coma for 12 days, after suffering acute lung infection, as a result of bacterial contamination.

A spokesman for the Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Authority, Hassan Abd Rabbo, said in a telephone conversation with “Wafa”, today, Sunday, that the health condition of the prisoner Abu Hamid is very critical, and he suffers from a lack of immunity, and does not respond to treatments according to the information, and he is still on artificial respirators in Barzilai Hospital, Israel.

He stressed that the commission submitted petitions to the occupation court last Thursday, and ten days ago, to pressure the occupation prisons administration to obtain the medical file on the latest developments in the health status of the prisoner with cancer, Nasser Abu Hamid, and to allow the prisoner’s family to visit him again in the hospital, noting that there is no one until now. Responses to the petitions.

According to the testimony of his family companions, Abu Hamid suffered at the beginning of January 2021 from severe chest pains and difficulty breathing, and the prison doctor’s diagnosis was not based on any laboratory tests, and he confirmed at the time that what he suffers is a normal infection that does not need more than an antibiotic.

As a result of the pressure exerted by the prisoners on the prison administration, Nasser was transferred for an x-ray not in the Ramle Clinic prison, and the diagnosis was the presence of a mass on the left lung. However, the prison clinic continued to dispense large quantities of antibiotics on the grounds that the mass could be removed. with it.

With the deterioration of his health and the persistence of the prisoners’ demands, he was transferred to Barzilai Hospital, where he was subjected to more accurate examinations and x-rays that showed that he had a tumor, and it was decided to remove it and take a biopsy from it. He had chemotherapy sessions that took him to start about 20 days until a month after the surgery.

After Nasser received the first dose, he felt pressure in the lung accompanied by severe pain, and after that he was returned to the hospital for three days, during which, as the medical staff in “Barzilai” claim, they emptied the lung of air by inserting a tube into it, and this tube was three times the size of what Nasser’s lung needs it, so the operation was accompanied by severe pain, and this error is due to the fact that the specialist in such operations was busy, and whoever performed the operation was a trainee, and as a result, Nasser contracted a germ in the lung, which aggravated his health.
